Chicken 65 is a spicy, red, deep fried chicken chunks usually served as bar snack, entrée or quick appetizer accompanied by onion slices, slit green chilies and lemon wedges.
Chicken 65 Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into small strips
- 3 sprig curry leaves
Marinate:
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder (or more up to 2 tsp)
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp corn flour
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- a pinch red food color (optional)
- 1 or 3 green chillies, chopped
- 1 tsp salt or to taste
DIRECTIONS:
- Clean and dice the chicken into small 1 inch bite-size pieces.
- In a large bowl beat the egg well. Marinate chicken with the ingredients listed under marination and leave it aside for minimum 1-2 hours. Maximum results if it is left overnight in refrigerator.
- Heat oil in a pan and add chicken pieces in batches. In every batch add curry leaves along with chicken pieces. Deep fry the chicken until it's done. It should take around 8 minutes per batch.
- Drain them in a kitchen towel.
- Serve it with freshly sliced onions and lemon wedges.
