Sweet and Sour Chili Sauce | Thai Style | Ramadan Recipe


Assalam'o' Alaykum hungries! How are you all doing? Hope ramadan is going well.

Today's blog post will be all about sauce, sauce and sauce!
I don't know about you but I love all sort of sauce. I think it gives any kind of meal (it may be salan, pakora, salad, sandwich) an extra zing.

So, because I'm obsessed with sauces I've brought for you guy, yes only for you guys this Sweet and Sour Chili Sauce. This sauce is full in flavor and aroma. Once you give it a try I promise, you will fall in love with it!
This sauce has 3 taste sweet, sour and a bit of saltiness. What I can say everything balance out perfectly. 

One of the secret ingredient of this sauce is the ginger, it surely is the star of this recipe and the main ingredient that brings out the wonderful aroma and memory of Asia!

So, enough said let's jump to the recipe.


Sweet and Sour Chili Sauce Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger, chopped
  • 1 tbsp crushed red chili flakes (add less if you don't want it super spicy)
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (any kind of white vinegar)
  • 2 tsp tomato ketchup (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water to dissolve starch

DIRECTIONS:
  1. In a small saucepan add sugar, chopped garlic, chopped ginger, red chili flakes, salt, vinegar, ketchup and water. Give it a good stir and and bring to a boil over high flame.
  2. Once it's boiling in a small bowl dissolve cornstarch in 1 tbsp water and add it to the boiling sauce.
  3. Stir and let cook for 1-2 minutes or until the sauce thickens up.
  4. Remove from heat and transfer in a jar. 
  5. Serve warm or cold. 
  6. You can store it  in the fridge for at least 1 month.
