It's been a long time since I've made homemade burgers. I remember when I was a child I used to be so excited whenever my mom makes burgers. I would eagerly give a hand in the kitchen.
Cheeseburger Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
Chapli kebab:
- 500g minced lamb
- 1 tbsp coriander seeds, crushed
- 1 medium size onion finely chopped
- 1 medium size tomato finely chopped
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 slices of bread, processed in a blender
- 1 tsp salt or to taste
- 1 green chili finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp oil
- Lettuce
- Red onion sliced
- Cucumber pickle sliced
- Tomato sliced
- Sliced cheese
Burger Spread:
Prepare Chapli Kebab:
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp siracha
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- Pinch of sugar
- 4 burger buns
Prepare Chapli Kebab:
In a large bowl mix all chapli kebab ingredients.
Mix with hands until everything is well combined.
Once mixed take about 2 tablespoon of the meat mixture and roll into a ball with hands.
Then with your palm press down the ball into a patty shape (about 15cm diameter large patties). Repeat process with the rest of the meat mixture. (Recipe makes about 6-8 patties)
Heat pan over high heat and add oil. Add just enough oil for shallow fry.
Once oil is hot carefully place the chapli kebabs on the pan.
Fry each side of the kebab over medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Once golden brown remove kebab from oil and transfer onto a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Prepare Mayo Spread:
In a small bowl combine all the ingredients for the spread. Mix well. Adjust ketchup and sugar depending on taste.
Assemble Cheeseburger:
Toast buns. Spread generous amount of the mayo/ketchup spread over the buns. Layer on top of the crown onion slices, a slice of tomato, lettuce, slice of cheese, chapli kebab, ketchup and lastly the bottom of the bun. Enjoy with chips!
