Fried Shrimp Covered with Oatmeal Recipe

Hello hungries!

I'm back with a new recipe for you guys. What do you think about fried shrimp with oatmeal? Sound strange, right! The idea to substitute the traditional panco breadcrumbs with white oats actually came from my sister. So, thank you sis!



This is the first time I'm trying this but I can assure you it works... it work wonderful! The fried shrimps came out lovely they were crunchy and vary savoury! The taste was unique it felt so exotic and just full of yumminess thanks to the spices that I used.

Fried Shrimp Covered with Oatmeal Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
  • 200g shrimp, peeled and devained (with tail on)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp chat masala 
  • 1/4 tsp paprika powder 
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup white oats
DIRECTIONS:
  1. In a bowl mix shrimp, lemon juice, salt, red chili, chat masala, paprika. Mix well;
  2. Marinate for at least 30 minutes; 
  3. Working one shrimp at a time, deep the shrimp first in the flour then in the egg and lastly in the oats;
  4. Repeat this process for the rest of the shrimp;
  5. Deep fry shrimp in a pan with hot oil over medium-high heat;
  6. Place the shrimp one at a time being careful not to over crowd the pan;
  7. Fry each side for 2 minutes until golden brown;
  8. Remove and transfer to a paper towel to remove the excess oil;
  9. Serve with sweet chili sauce. Done!
